Ladybug Music Director & Teacher

At an early age, Melissa showed a passion for music and theater. This transpired into her studying piano, voice, and theater at Clarke University where she received her BA in Music & Theatre. She continued to perform in various productions until she obtained her Master’s degree in Education. She spent 5 years as a high school English teacher in Minnesota.

In 2016, Melissa stumbled upon Ladybug Music which was only in  California. She fell in love with the unique music. After weeks of playing the songs and dancing with her kids, she made a business plan and flew to California to meet with Ladybug creator, Patricia Margarita Maertens. Long story short, Ladybug Music MN was started in 2016.

This is Ladybug Music MN 6th year of being in business. We are elated to be able to help children and their parents have fun together as they discover the joy of music.

Melissa has 3 kids: Keira (8), Greyson (6), and Julien (7 months) and they love spending time outdoors and staying active. The kids share her joy of music and are always surprised that mom knows the lyrics and can sing pretty much every song from classics-to country-to hiphop. We’ll see how long that is “cool” 😉

Ladybug Music Teacher

Kellie grew up in Bloomington, IL and was heavily involved in her music and theatre community from a young age. She participated in multiple musicals/shows  and knew that she always wanted it to be a part of her life.

After receiving her BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Illinois University in Fall 2016, she toured with various children’s theatres around the country and other regional theatre productions. Now, she performs around the Twin Cities and surrounding areas as theatrical opportunities appear.

Kellie loves to partake in outdoor activities with her husband, Garrett and their beagle puppy, Sadie Mae.

We’re so happy Kellie joined our Ladybug Music family in 2021! She has a lovely voice and is wonderful with our little ladybugs and their families.
